Happy Chinese New Year from FengMi!!!

Well, it's Chinese New Year today so let's brighten up the atmosphere a bit! FengMi both rang in the Year of the Dragon with separate photoshoots...but just like their Christmas shoots, their Chinese New Year photos turned out eerily alike! O_o (Come on you two, why are you fighting fate...you know the universe is trying to tell you something when almost everything you do matches each other unintentionally! Hehe, just kidding! ;P I guess they really are like what Feng Shaofeng said--born to be an "onscreen couple"...)

(Note: I am definitely still working on the subs for the videos, the recent news is just still fresh so I'm taking some time getting around to it. But don't worry, it's coming... ^_^)

Well, I'm sure most of you have heard the news already...Yang Mi and Hawick Lau announced recently that they are in a relationship, and FSF sent his well-wishes/congratulations, thus bringing an end to FengMi.

I know many of you feel disappointed, so feel free to vent if you like! But I'd just like to say, I hope all of you had an enjoyable few months following FengMi because I know I did! Sometimes the end is not so important, as long as the journey was fun!

Personally, I think shipping FengMi was still completely worth every second. And if I had to choose again, even knowing the end result, I wouldn't hesitate in deciding to support and fangirl for FengMi wholeheartedly. Quite honestly, I have never had such a blast following entertainment news. They've brought me genuine happiness and excitement, so for that I thank them.

Of course I also wonder, why are they so sweet towards each other, even in recent days, if YM/HL are an item...? Was FengMi just an act, a front? I guess we won't really know, but I am inclined to believe that they are indeed extremely close friends, just like family--you can't fake that kind of closeness. Here's to hoping they will remain lifelong buddies! And while part of me wishes they weren't so sweet in the past 2 months (giving me more hope), in the end I am glad they gave us FengMi shippers a "last hurrah", so-to-speak.

Thanks to all of you for these few months. I will still update this blog for any of you who would still like to stick around--there are 3 videos I have yet to sub. When I first started shipping FengMi I told myself the result didn't matter--I would enjoy the process and worry about the end when it came. Well, that day has arrived and while I did get more invested than I originally planned to, I will definitely keep my word and continue to support FengMi, both together and separately! I love both of them equally right now and will continue to follow their projects. :)

So that event I mentioned previously, about FengMi attending a promo event for the jewellery company "I Do" (who specializes in engagement/wedding jewellery, as their name suggests)?

Well, like FengMi always seem to do, they exceeded my expectations despite me already being super-hyped-up about it!!! (I don't know how they do it every single time, they just get more and more adorable. ^_^) Yang Mi also accompanied Feng Shaofeng to his "White Vengeance" promo event right after!

Rumour Clarification + Questions & Answers Post

I have been receiving lots of questions in the "FSF Up Close Interview" post and I felt it might be a good idea to create a dedicated post where you guys can ask any questions you have about FengMi--whether it's a random rumour you heard somewhere or any other questions you have! (Note that depending on the question it may take me awhile to get around to it but rest assured, I am working on them! :P)

There are tons of articles out there revolving around FengMi together as well as them with their various costars. It's inevitable since both FSF and YM continue to act opposite many other people apart from each other, and the media just love to gossip/spread rumours. Sometimes, that makes it hard to separate fact from fiction!

While I obviously can't comment fully on what exactly is true and what exactly is made-up, I will try my best to clarify these. (Hopefully in an objective way, but, being such a major FengMi-fangirl and shipper, I admit it might not be possible for me to be completely unbiased.)

So without further ado, please feel free to ask away in the comments below and I will continue to add to this post as we go. I'm not sure this is the most efficient way to organize things (I don't know how to do a separate "FAQ" page here) but hopefully it will do for now!

Feng Shaofeng's "Up Close" Interview

Back in October, FSF appeared was interviewed on "Up Close". The host, Li Jing, also co-hosted FengMi's ChaoJi (Super Access) Interview back in March as well as their recent appearance at the "I Do" event (more to come on that later). I actually finished the subs for this one awhile ago but ended up getting distracted by all the recent FengMi news so didn't get around to this one till now. Sorry!

I would like to thank Mr. "slow-talker" Feng Shaofeng for taking his time answering questions and thus making it a lot easier for me to translate & sub his interviews--as opposed to "machine-gun"-Yang Mi whose interviews take forever to get through... (If you missed that reference, be sure to check out the comments I added under the previous "Oct-Nov Megapost"--I also added some screencaps of FSF's "slow talking" video so check that out too if you haven't already! )

Once again, I find FSF adorable when he's answering questions related to Yang Mi--he gets all flustered/embarrassed so easily! In fact I am tempted to go on a squee-fest about practically every single thing he says during that segment but I'll let you guys just watch it yourself (I do have a few added notes to expand on some of it though):

Before I get onto new material, I promised a certain Anonymous commenter that I would provide an answer to their question under the "YM Bday Party post":

"Does YM/FSF watch their own dramas (I mean their individual projects)or they only watch Fengmi dramas?"

Now, I can't for sure answer 100% yes or no to this. But let's take a look at their interview replies: (please keep in mind--as with all written interviews, take it with a grain of salt since without video evidence, we don't know whether things have been embellished/taken out of context by the writers)

FSF: "以前从来不看自己的戏，有什么好看的？傻了吧唧的。" 可《宫》他是每集都看，“看的时候还能回忆起拍戏时的开心事儿。"

Translation: "Before I would never watch my own dramas--what's the point of watching them? I'm so 'silly/dumb' in them." But for <Gong>, he would watch every single episode, "When I watch it I can remember back to the funny/happy memories from filming."

FengMi "Gong" BTS + Hunan TV commercials (...plus mango_cake's intro post)

Hello everyone! JoleCole has kindly given me the power of adding my own posts to her lovely FengMi shipper blog now that she can't keep up with the never-ending onslaught of FengMi cuteness. (Just kidding. ) Unfortunately (or fortunately, as the case may be) I'm not quite sure she realizes what she is in for...because I'm not going to be able to contain myself any longer! I've been trying (often in vain) to not go too overboard in the spcnet forums and swamp YM/FSF etc. threads with FengMi stuff. Well, here it's no longer a problem so without further ado, I shall gush, fangirl, and squee away to my heart's content!!!

Sorry everyone for taking so long for my first posts, but I hope you enjoy! ^_^ Took me longer than expected to compile everything. My megapost of small FengMi observations over the past 2 months, as well as a compilation of FengMi tidbits in Yang Mi's "Birthday Party" episode are in the previous 2 posts. However, I've decided that in this slow time of no FengMi public appearances (both YM and FSF are filming separately right now), I'm going to go back and compile various videos of them from the past year or so.

October - November FengMi Tidbits Megapost

Unfortunately, in the past 2 months both FSF and YM have been busy filming their separate movie projects, so it's been a long time since the two of them have come together (not since the end of September when they both filmed Gong 2 together!). However, there are still lots of cuteness to be found from their weibo posts, as well as interviews in which FSF/YM are asked about each other. (I haven't even included all of FengMi's "lovey-dovey" weibo posts in here since they don't, obviously, reference each other at all. But I can't help but "awwww" when I read them and wonder if they're meant for one another...)

So I have FINALLY finished translating and subbing Yang Mi's episode of "Birthday Party" (a variety show) that was aired in late September. The whole interview is very cute (start at Part I) but I'll only mention the FengMi tidbits here. (Most of this has been mentioned over on spcnet before but it's a compilation of everything.)

Symphony of Fate (Ming Yun Jiao Xiang Qu) Currently Airing

Hello again to all the FengMi fans! I apologize for my lack of updates in recent months, but fortunately, our Mango_cake never fails to give us more FengMi goodies on spcnet.tv forum. I hope you all have been following her posts. If you haven't, no worries! I'll consolidate what she has been writing.

I'm sure those of you following FengMi closely are aware Symphony of Fate (a.k.a. Ming Yun Jiao Xiang Qu) is currently being aired on AnHui and ShenZhen TV stations right now. Ratings are good, but of course, definitely not as high as Gong. At first, I was pretty excited about this drama. After reading many reviews and spoilers, the storyline is really mediocre and the sweet FengMi scenes are what make it interesting for fans like us.

FengMi's Denies Link on Chinese Valentine's Day (QiXi) Weibo Posts

Some more fangirling due to a cute interview FSF did recently. He just became the spokesperson for Tissot (a Swiss watch company) and attended a promo event:

Now you know what is super suspicious?? Remember the two "QiXi" weibo posts YM/FSF made, that I posted about in the Gong thread? Well...both of them are now in total denial mode with the media! Reporters asked them about it separately (YM at her Ruyi press conference interview, FSF at his Tissot promo event), but YM said she can't remember posting it (oh come on YM, it was less than 2 weeks ago!) and FSF also said "I don't think so, I only posted about spending QiXi with Raymond Lam..." Then after repeated questioning from the reporter FSF says, "Yeah it was for my fans...who always love and support me." (Hmm, using his good friend and even his fans as a cover-up FSF? Wonder who you learned that trick from... ). The reporters even burst out laughing and couldn't stop the giggles because they so knew he was purposefully avoiding the question! XD

Painted Skin (Hua Pi) 2 Casting Decision

I read somewhere recently an interview with one of HP2's producers. He said he did not choose YM/FSF to act in HP2 because of their huge popularity after Gong (he said he doesn't really pay attention to idol series anyways), but because when the two of them auditioned/screen-tested together, he was extremely impressed by their unique chemistry and said their "aura" together was something he had never seen before. Definitely looking forward to their storyline here!

I don't know exactly what the process was...I'm guessing that they were probably invited to audition together because of their huge popularity after Gong, but ultimately they were chosen because of their amazing chemistry together. I just went back to read that article--sorry, what I posted above isn't very accurate (it was awhile ago so I forgot the specifics). It was actually HP2's producer Chen Guofu that said it, not the director. Sounds like he had a big say in the casting--he probably was not the one who invited FengMi to audition (he seems to be one of those film "snobs" who doesn't think highly of idol dramas, lol! He doesn't seem to be that aware of or excited about FengMi's enormous popularity, either--making it all the more impressive that he chose them!).

14th China Film (Hua Biao) Awards

The almighty CCTV held the biennial Hua Biao Award Ceremony on the evening of 28th (Beijing time). Many famous directors, producers, and stars attended the event in resplendent garbs. Attendees included Andy Lau, Jackie Chan, Eva Huang, Liu YiFei, Huang XiaoMing, Hu Ge, Shawn Yue, Charlene Choi, our very favorite FengMi, and many more I wish I could continue to list. FengMi didn't receive any awards but they were presenters and walked with their respective movie cast/crew to promote their new projects. YM first walked the red carpet with Shawn Yue for her new movie ChunQiao and ZhiMing. Liu YiFei and FSF paired up for the red carpet walk with their White Vengeance producer and co-star. After they finished with their first red carpet walk, FengMi then ran back in line and paired up to walk with their Painted Skin 2 cast/crew. Check out the new interview by CCTV below!

FSF peeking at YM? Just kidding!

Hilariously, after FSF posted up the photo he took of YM at the Lux-sponsored awards show, the next day some person wrote up an article titled "FSF 'tou pai' Yang Mi". I have to feel sorry for the poor guy--YM was clearly smiling sweetly right at FSF in the photo, knowing he was taking a pic of her...no sneaky stuff involved! Meanwhile YM was actually the one who "tou pai" FSF (since he had his head down playing with his phone in the pic she took of him, clearly unaware that the sneaky girl was taking a snapshot!). Yet YM escapes completely unscathed and FSF ends up with the "crime".

Reminds me after the HFCQ press conference (early March), someone managed to get a shot of FSF that looked like he was secretly staring at YM's...err...chest area. (When really it was probably just taken at a moment when he was glancing down.) The pic then spread all over the internet and certain reporters even wrote up stories saying "FSF 'tou miao' Yang Mi". ("Tou miao" = secretly peeking at someone without their knowledge; has a pretty derogatory connotation.) Hilariously yesterday I just saw a "FSF-hater/basher" in the Baidu forums use this pic as his display pic! (Don't want to post that pic here but this is a link: No, this is NOT what it looks like!)

2011 LeTV Entertainment Awards

Beijing Time- On the evening of Friday, August 26, 2011 FengMi attended the LeTV Entertainment Awards to accept their win in "Most Popular Actor/Actress in Asia & Pacific" category. Other famous attendees included Tang Yan, Cecilia Cheung, Christy Chung, Nick Cheung (Cheung Ka Fai），etc. FSF was supposed walk the red carpet with YM, but she had prior work commitments before this event and couldn't make it in time. But they  somehow managed to meet up later and walk to their seats together with YM holding on to FSF's arm. According to FengMi fans who also attended this event, both FSF and YM left at the same time in their own separate vehicle. Translated backstage interview below!

On August 19, 2010, both YM and FSF attended the same award ceremony held in Beijing. However, they both arrived at different times. FSF got there early while YM was busy with her work and got there much later.

CCTV's FengMi Reporting: YM & Her Male Co-Stars

CCTV (China Central Television Station) is the biggest broadcasting organ in China whose tentacles reach the most remote parts of China.  This TV station is a government entity that usually airs no nonsense programs and proper news.

Funnily, even CCTV, the official TV station in China, is a total FengMi shipper! I think I mentioned the subtle bits they did before, but awhile ago they were SUPER OBVIOUS in a news piece they did on Yang Mi--during her DMGD celebration press conference, they asked YM for her opinion on many of her male costars.

Chinese Valentine's Day (QiXi)

Forgive me for going on another FengMi fangirl squee session. This post is a bit too much "crazy obsessed fan speculation" for me to feel comfortable "spamming" FSF/YM's individual threads (where I have been posting most of the recent FengMi real-life interaction), so I settled for spamming the "Gong" thread instead for interested people.

A bit of background: Aug. 06 was "QiXi"--also known as the Chinese Valentine's Day. The day before, both FSF and YM were in Beijing filming Hua Pi 2. Unfortunately, they both had commitments in other cities on the actual day. YM returned to An Ji to continue filming Ru Yi. Meanwhile, FSF had flown to Wuhan the night before because he had a promo event to attend on QiXi--for "I Do", a jewelry company (also happens to be the company who made the necklace that the ChaoJi interview hosts asked FSF to put on YM back in March). (By the way, I kinda wish I was back in China right now...Wuhan being my hometown!! :'( But, I am comforted by the fact that FSF did all these lovely things while in my home city! XD Yes, random, I know...)

First, a disclaimer: I admit that, as FengMi fans, we are very biased and see everything through "FengMi-rose-coloured" glasses, and we also probably tend to over-romanticize things. So, perhaps I (and other FengMi fans) am linking too many events together that have nothing to do with each other, because FengMi obviously never name one another. (There are actually many more of FSF and YM's weibo posts that are very cryptic and vague...I truly feel it makes the most sense that these posts are meant for each other, but because we can't be sure of it I refrain from posting them. However, on QiXi, I really think that a lot of the events are interconnected in terms of FengMi and together they are truly so sweet/romantic. Basically, take it with a grain of salt and you guys can judge for yourself whether FSF/YM's words/actions on this day were meant for each other...

FengMi Weibo (microblog) Interactions

Sorry for my recent lack of updates! I got distracted with the new Huan Zhu Ge Ge remake and some other Chinese drama. Both FSF and YM have been mostly busy working on their own individual projects and have not made any public appearance together. Not much exciting FengMi news lately.
